Earlier today, Microsoft released the latest Insider Preview build – no. 14267 – to the fast ring. We’ll cover major elements of the changelog to tell you what’s new and useful.
Windows Insider Build 14267 comes just a couple weeks after build 14257 which we covered recently. Unlike that build, and some of the ones before it, this build brings some genuine new features to Windows 10 that improve the user experience. Let’s cover them one by one.
Music recognition in Cortana, like Shazam-powered Siri
iPhone and iPad users have been able to invoke Siri and say “Siri, what’s this song?” to have her recognize or identify songs playing near you. It uses Shazam’s music database to work.
Now, Cortana can do just the same. Just launch Cortana, and click on the music notes icon in the top right corner. Clicking on that will get Cortana to hear the music playing near you in the background. It will then tell you what song it is so you can later download it.
Improvements in Microsoft Edge
Edge has received a lot of love in Insider build 14267. Here’s what’s new:
- Optional favicons-only mode for the favorites bar. Previously, it would show both name and icons which would take a lot of space. With just the icons, you can fit lots of them for faster access to your favorite websites.
