The latest Insider Build allows you to change how websites look in your favorites bar. You can now optionally set them to be favicons instead of the full name and icon.
Microsoft recently released build 14267 as a preview for Windows Insiders. This update has brought improvements to Cortana and especially to Microsoft Edge. The customary performance improvements and bug fixes were also there but the build has come into the limelight because of the way it has fine-tuned Microsoft Edge.
Microsoft Edge as we all know is the new face of browsers on Windows. Released with Windows 10, it is the heir to Internet Explorer’s declining throne and something Windows fanboys have been crying out for since a long time. Edge was made to compete with the very best out there. Initially, it didn’t have much to offer which caused its popularity curve to remain stagnant.
As more and more features such as export Edge favorites to Chrome and Firefox, Edge Sync etc. are being integrated into Edge, the Windows browser has slowly and steadily grown into stature. Microsoft has decided to shift gears in its attempts to make it the most widespread browser in the world. The discontinuation of Internet Explorer and the integration of exclusive features is definitely a huge statement of intent.
One of the exclusive newer features the insider preview build has brought to Microsoft Edge is the optional icons-only view of bookmarked sites in the favorites bar. This minute improvement not only improves the look of Edge but also gives users more breathing space on the favorites bar to bookmark more websites.
Steps to enable favicon-only view of bookmarked sites in Edge favorites bar:
Step 1: Open Microsoft Edge.
Step 2: Enable the favorites bar from Settings > Show the favorites bar.
Step 3: Now that you have enabled it, you will see the favorites bar under the address bar. You should now right-click on the favorites bar.
Step 8: From the right click context menu, select the option to show icons only. Your favorites bar should now look like this.
All done!
