Switch To Hijri Calendar In Windows 10

As 2015 comes to a close, it is time for a lot of us to update our calendars. If you however follow the hijri calendar and wish to see it in the Calendar app, find out how to do it below.

The hijri calendar is most commonly followed by Muslims so that they can be better aware of important religious events that occur throughout the year which aren’t present on any other calendar (without some calculation, at least). A great addition to the calendar app allows a number of different calendars to be displayed within the app, among them is Hijri calendar.

This is only one of the few things that Microsoft took into account when making Windows 10, a recent update further allowed users to customize their notification display timings, which can be convenient too.

Adding the Hijri Calendar to your main calendar will have no effect on the standard Gregorian calendar display, the Islamic Hijri Calendar will merely have its important details listed alongside the current date, so you needn’t worry about losing track of the days or months with the migration.

Steps to add Hijri Calendar to Windows 10

STEP 1:

Open up the calendar app and navigate to the gear icon at the bottom left corner.

You will see a slide out menu appear on the right side of the app with the following options, click on Calendar Settings.

STEP 3:

When you have it open, simply scroll down to the end and find the option of Alternate Calendars. You will see a drop down box with multiple options, select Hijri and you are done!

As you can see, this is an intricate feature of Windows 10 that will definitely hit all the right notes with Muslims who wish to get additional value out of their native Windows 10 apps that otherwise offer limiting features initially made for a different target audience.
