We’ve previously shown you how to set up Showbox with Bluestacks 2. If you had trouble with that, we are going to show you how to set it up with another emulator called ARC Welder.
Showbox is a an app similar to the popular Popcorn Time CE, the “Netflix for torrents” or “Netflix for pirates” – used for streaming films, shows, anime for free. Unlike Popcorn Time, however, Showbox doesn’t have any official presence on Windows. Just because that is the case, doesn’t mean we can’t roll up our sleeves and find a way to remedy this problem. It’s a decent alternative to Popcorn Time, as well as Stremio.
There are several ways to run an emulator but did you know that you can emulate an Android app with the help of Google Chrome? All you need is one hefty sized extension and the relevant APK file to get you rolling.
STEP 1:
Visit the Google Chrome Store and download ARC Welder [Chrome Web Store]. You might have to wait for a while for it to download and install, since this is easily the single biggest extension you will probably ever come across.
STEP 2:
Once you have Arc Welder downloaded and installed, Type chrome://apps/ in the address bar in Google Chrome. When you see the app, run it.
STEP 3:
For this next step, you will have to locate and download the APK for Showbox yourself. Just Google “Showbox APK”. When you have downloaded the APK on your system, proceed to the next step.
STEP 4:
You will then be prompted to choose a directory for ARC Welder where it will store the install and other misc. data when it runs APK Files. Choose a place convenient for you and eventually you will see the option of Test your app and under it the option of “Add your APK” click on Add your APK.
STEP 5:
Once you have added the APK, you will see the following screen. Click on Test and configure how the app will run for you. Although we recommend you make Full Screen Under Form Factor.
STEP 6:
Showbox is now a permanent resident of your Chrome Browser, you can access it anytime by going to chrome://apps/ in the address bar and running it!
Do remember to clean out the directory you chose in Step 4, if you are downloading or otherwise streaming content, you will build up quite a bit of cache here and lose out on disc space fairly rapidly.
