Dartmouth-based startup, Sparkyard has manufactured Rove – a small wireless device which syncs with GPS device and smartphones, and allows the user to share trail maps across various social networks and brings multiple geocaches right to your GPS. The new Rove device makes really easy for outdoor enthusiasts to immediately share their trails and adventures with the other adventurers and friends via social networks. The Rove actually works by collecting the GPS data of the adventurer (travelling through any source of transportation) and then sends the trail data using the smartphone to a social network you want.
A must have device for all people who indulge themselves in the high-tech treasure hunting game of geocoaching, the Rove comes in anodized aluminum casing, which makes it really durable, shock, dust and waterproof. The Rove plugs into a mini USB port of a GPS device and then lets you connect to your smartphone wirelessly via Bluetooth. Once ready, the Rove with let you get local geocoaches sent directly to your GPS.
Up on crowdfunding site Indiegogo to raise funds for mounting production, the Rove is available on Gorove for $149. Currently the Rove is compatible with Garmin GPS devices with mini USB, Sparkyard is testing it with other GPS devices. Hit the jump to see the Rove in action.
