Taking a huge leap from the customary concepts for two wheeled commuting in the future, the skies are the limit literally speaking. As the space on solid ground keeps on secluding the eyes are set high on the sky for developing ecological motorsports of tomorrow. Stefan Hermann’s design concept called Rail Racers which is an electric-motor powered racing sports concept for thrill in midair as the vehicle derives energy directly from the overhead racing track having conductive antenna. This eliminates the need for any flammable fuel or bulky batteries on-board decreasing the performance of the racing vehicle.
In a way you call the Rail Racers as flexible electric driven helicopter loaded with impellers, rotors and turbines. The driver of the vehicle has to make sure that the autoscooter is kept in contact with race track without losing traction by accelerating the turbine and reaching top speed. With light-weight capacitors feeding energy to electricmotors and even if the track connection is lost the capacitors keep the racer safe up in the air.
Talking about the overhead track it is made from hanging wire rope towers like in a suspension bridge or girders and the needed electricity is produced using photovoltaic system, wind farms and hydroelectric power stations. For now the concept focuses on taking the racing to a whole new level but it could have serious applications in future transportation too.
