Microsoft has rolled out yet another cumulative update for Windows 10. It’s named KB3124266, and it comes with a changelog for a change!
It’s been a while since Microsoft’s last cumulative update, but the patience was well rewarded when KB3124266 had a comprehensive and detailed change-log attached to it. It has been a little over a month since the release of Windows 10 KB3124200, the last cumulative update which is still a mystery when it comes to its change-log.
The update primarily has many security updates when it addresses a number of vulnerabilities in Windows Kernel, Microsoft Edge, and Internet Explorer 11. You can view the full changelog on Microsoft’s official website here.
Additionally, there is a known issue in this update for users who are currently running Citrix XenDesktop. Due to conflicts with the OS, it is recommended you remove the software and install the update to avoid being left out of the update loop. These security patches are being termed as highly critical!
If you wish to install this update, you will have to manually prompt the update to install by pressing Windows Key + S and searching for “check for updates“. This update carries no prerequisites, so you can update to this directly if you haven’t done so in a while. That is how cumulative updates work, after all. Once you install the update, you’ll of course need to restart your system.
Seeing as how the insider builds are steadily leading us to the red letter day, we can only hope that we get more insight on the progress of the upcoming Redstone update. I am fairly excited about it, since features like Continuum, and ‘roaming apps’ are something I can see myself using regularly. Microsoft is expected to release more details on more features soon. We will cover them when they do.
