You wouldn’t bet against the good old piggy bank getting a high tech twist, would you? At least not until the iPhone is around. A Japanese manufacturer has launched a piggy bank called Jinseiginkou which synchronizes every little detail of the coins chipped into it and allows you to set goals and then set out on collecting money to achieve it. For example, saving money for you girlfriend’s birthday gift, collecting money to buy your next favorite gadget or maybe even just collecting it for fun. Jinseiginkou synchronizes all the data regarding the money chipped in, the monthly goals and time frame (if any) set by the user themselves using an app. The piggy bank works with 500 Yen coins and whenever you put in a coin it gets updated to your iPhone’s app.
Once you have set a goal and time frame for the collection and you make an early withdrawal then you’ll be penalized to add in more money which in a way keeps you on track. Jinseiginkou piggy bank will cost you around 3990 Yen (US$ 43) and the only downside for now is that it can be only used with 500 Yen coins and no other currency.
