If you’ve accidentally removed a file in OneDrive on your PC, keep calm and read on to restore deleted OneDrive files in Windows 10.
Cloud computing has become an integral part of computer science. It has brought automation of things to a whole new level. The things Dropbox could do some 5 years ago were amazing. Now, things have accelerated rapidly and the once concealed cloud computing has shifted gears and moved into the fast lane.
Cloud Storage has become a very useful feature indeed which many users specially businessmen and data specialists like to use very often to ensure everything is updated and backed up in case of any mishaps to the machinery or hard copied documents. Microsoft realized this need and decided to have its very own cloud storage which we’re now familiar with by the name of OneDrive.
OneDrive, previously known as SkyDrive, is a cloud storage that allows users to sync files and then access them later on. In simpler words, it’s an online back up of whatever you want to stay safe in case of any mishaps with your computer. By default, it saves all files in C: drive from where you can directly access them.
OneDrive is integrated very well into the new OS and subsequently removes the need for its users to access other cloud storage apps for their use. It also allows other features such as the ability to automatically save files to it and also to change where OneDrive stores files.
Another very handy feature that it houses is that if, mistakenly you have deleted a OneDrive file on your PC, the deletion operation creates two copies of the file and sends one to your recycle bin and the other to OneDrive’s recycle bin online.
Even if you have emptied your recycle bin, the copy of the file online would exist until you delete it from the web. This is what allows you to restore deleted OneDrive files.
Step 1: Right click on the OneDrive icon in the Taskbar and select Go to OneDrive.com.
Step 2: Login to your account.
Step 3: Click on Recycle Bin under the available options below OneDrive.
Step 4: Right click the file you want to restore. From the resulting context menu, click on restore and your work is done.
