How To Resize Tiles In Windows 10 Start Menu

This tutorial will discuss with you the simple procedure to resize tiles in Windows 10.

The live tiles are simply, a very beautiful thing to have hanging around in your Start menu. I personally believe its integration should not be limited to the Start menu and that it can be used in other programs as well. Live tiles are the moving icons you can see on your Start menu. After some time, they change what they display which is actually something inside that folder or a feature of that app, if the tile is of an app that is.

The live tiles find their origins in the Windows 7 smartphone OS in the first ever Lumia device known as the Nokia Lumia 710. Users were awed by the beautiful, surface changing tiles which I have to admit were a joy to watch. The interface of the tiles has basically remained the same since then but its implementation has undergone changes as Windows has evolved with time.

The live tiles first found their way to our computers in Windows 8. Microsoft wanted to make the new OS touch friendly as well. So, they found the live tiles, together with Tablet Mode and Touch Keyboard, a crowning feature that would supplement their famous Everything at once slogan. The live tiles continued on in Windows 8.1 and now we have them here in the brilliantly designed Start menu in Windows 10.

Some of the newer tweaks that you can apply to them include the ability to group them together with a name and also move that group around anywhere in the Start menu. The pin and unpin features are inherited directly from Windows 8/8.1 as is the ability to resize them. This can be done by the steps below.

Note that you will require pinned tiles in the Start menu to be able to do this.

Step 1: Click on the Start menu or press the Windows button.

Step 2: Right click on the tile which you wish to resize.

Step 3: From the drop down menu, move your cursor over resize.

Step 4: From the resulting drop down, select the size of your choice and the tile will resize itself as shown in the image below.
