Privacy is becoming increasingly important in today’s world. In this post, we will explain how to make invisible folders in Windows 10 to maintain your privacy.
Privacy has always been a paramount issue for many people. While most people are slowly becoming aware of how to find hidden files and folders, this new tweak will take your privacy level up a notch and allow you to make invisible folders that are without names or icons.
With this handy tweak, you to have the power to keep your privacy maintained right in plain sight!
Let’s get started, shall we?
Make a folder anywhere you want on the desktop, and give it a name.
Next. right click on the folder and click on “Properties”. You will see a series of tabs, click on “Customize” and move your pointer over to “Change Icon”.
Now, simply scroll until you find an empty folder icon as shown below. Select the empty icon and click on OK.
We are now halfway there! The folder icon is now transparent and blending in with the background.
Now the second half of this making invisible folders tweak is by far the trickiest, it will take most people a few tries to do so, but the end result is astounding.
This is where the guide hits a fork in the road. If you are using a keyboard with a dedicated number pad (Which MOST desktop keyboards do), then all you have to do is, right click and rename the folder, then hold down the ALT key and press 0 1 6 0 in that order ON the number pad.
Now, if you are on a laptop or system without a dedicated number pad (like myself) then you have to look for the Num Lk button on your keyboard, and enable it with however your system works. For me, I had to do Fn + Num Lk on my Lenovo laptop.
Once you have done so, Right click, rename your folder and simply find the corresponding buttons on the keyboard that have numbers on letters and press them, e.g, ALT + 0 1 6 0 for me was ALT + M , J , O , M with Num Lk on.
This is a little tricky to do, it took me a couple of tries before I succeeded, but this is the end result if you did it right.
This tweak is relatively easy and fun to do, and truly will save you the trouble of toggling hidden folders and files constantly.
