Windows 7 is the most loved of all Windows. This article reveals how you can get back one of its features – the classy tray analog clock – in Windows 10.
When Windows 7 was launched, it wasn’t quite appreciated as it is now. The failings of Windows 8/8.1/10 in various aspects has led to its legendary status among Windows enthusiasts.
Windows 10 was promised to be something special. According to Microsoft, a lot of work was put into making it the best Windows ever but it didn’t turn out as good as it was promised to be.
The reason is simple: while the new features are nice, as is the significantly improved user experience, the performance is generally quite poor. Bugs, unwanted frequent errors and corrupted apps are some of the noteworthy problems in Windows 10. Another issue is making simple things a little bit more complicated e.g. forgetting a WiFi network is no more a one click process.
These are some of the things that make users want to downgrade to Windows 7. In fact, many are already doing that causing Microsoft to be a little pushy and force upgrades to Windows 10. If you’re one of those who miss Windows 7, we’ve discovered how you can get many of its features such as Windows 7 games, Windows 7 battery indicator, Windows 7 volume slider etc. back into Windows 10.
Today, we’ll bring back another feature from the dead, the classic analog clock in the system tray. Here’s how you can get it back. Time to do some registry editing!
Steps to get Windows 7’s Classic Analog Clock in Windows 10
Step 1: Open regedit.
Step 2: Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Step 3: Expand SOFTWARE.
Step 4: Expand Microsoft.
Step 5: Expand Windows.
Step 6: Expand CurrentVersion.
Step 7: Double click on ImmersiveShell.
Step 8: Right click anywhere in the right window pane and create a DWORD (32-bit value).
Step 9: Rename it to UseWin32TrayClockExperience.
Step 10: Right click on it and then click on Modify.
Step 11: In the text field under value data, change the value to 1 and click on OK. Check whether the changes have been applied as shown in the image below by clicking on the date and time in the system tray.
