How To Disable Start Menu Color In Windows 10

Windows 10 allows you to change color of Taskbar, Action Center and Start menu via a simple switch. If you only want the taskbar to retain its color and not the Start menu, learn how to disable start menu color.

The History of the Taskbar

The Taskbar refers to the long bar that is omnipresent on the bottom of your screen. Both it and the Start menu are vital cogs in Window’s UI as they contain a lot of settings and apps which we can directly access via a simple click.

The Taskbar has been an ever-present feature in Windows since the very first version called Windows 1.0 was released way back in 1985. It had the capacity to hold multiple apps / pieces of information when minimised, such as the time etc. Then as Windows evolved from time to time, so did the taskbar. Functionalities such as thumbnails, battery indicator etc. were also added over time.

In my opinion the Taskbar received its biggest update when it moved from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. In Windows 8/8.1, the Taskbar was much like in Windows 7. It could hold shortcuts, battery and WiFi icons, the start button etc. but what changed in Windows 10 was that it included the Search bar and Task View buttons as well. Not only this, the touch keyboard button was also seamlessly integrated into it.

Another thing that was different was its smart ability to change color in accordance with your background wallpaper. The Taskbar is by default black in color and will change color that is in context with your wallpaper provided that you have selected that option in your Settings. This option simultaneously changes color of your Start menu, Action Center and Taskbar not leaving you with the option to individually select colors for each of them.
