How To Clear Search History In Windows 10

Internet browsers are not the only place where you can go incognito. You can clear search history in file explorer to camouflage yourself too.

Privacy is a very delicate issue. It is one of the uncompromising aspects of human beings that they simply cannot let anyone invade their privacy. In today’s world, privacy has become a very concerning issue. The advancements in technology has not only increased its credentials but on the other hand, have also increased the already significant risk to privacy invasion.

Incidents like the Fappenning, the Sony PlayStation hack etc. have raised many eyebrows around the world as to how cyber insecure we are. Technology behemoths have consistently banked on how much secure their brands are but users have not been fully impressed. This was an issue Microsoft badly needed to address as the Fappenning happened at a very bad time.

Since Windows 10 was scheduled to be released just a year after the Fappenning, users were particularly interested as to how Microsoft would secure their very own cloud storage a.k.a OneDrive. Microsoft ensured that OneDrive security would be further enhanced which would virtually be non hackable.

Coming to privacy at a lower level i.e while surfing the internet or using your computer, there are many things that you wouldn’t want other people to see. While web browsers such as Chrome and Edge have the incognito mode for private browsing, anything you search for in your file explorer can also be cleared up as well. This can be done by clearing its search history. Follow the steps below.

Step 1: Open File Explorer.

Step 2: Click on Search in the menu bar.

Step 3: Click on Recent Searches.

Step 4: From the drop down menu, click on Clear search history as shown in the image below.
