How To Change Default Download Location For Edge

Lets give you another demonstration of Windows registry’s power by using it to change default download location for Edge.

When I started writing blogs, while exploring new tips and tricks I decided to stay away from working with registry files. This was because someone told me that meddling with the registry can have severe consequences. That being said, one day I turned to my good friend Google to know more about implementing registry tweaks. Google did adhere to this statement that tinkering with the registry can be very harmful but what it also said was that it gives you more power over Windows than you can see on the surface.

That was the moment I decided to delve into registry tweaking as well and I’ve loved it. Verily, things that Windows does not allow you to do via the Control Panel or Settings can be done through it. Some of the things it can do include Disable Start menu color, resetting context menu and getting the old Windows 7 battery indicator back etc.

The Registry can also fool around with Microsoft Edge as well. It can help you change default download location for Edge. You might be thinking, why to tweak the registry just to get this tiny thing done? The answer to that is that Microsoft Edge does not allow you to do this very easily as it is missing some very important extensions. Furthermore, it can be helpful for users who would like a separate download directory for Edge.

Unlike Chrome and Firefox, you can only do this via registry tweaking. So lets get straight into it.

Steps to change default download location for Edge:

Step 1: Type regedit in Windows Search and open it.

Step 2: Follow the path below to its end to reach Main.
