Microsoft touted Windows 10 as the next big thing that would put all other OSes to shame, or at least send them into hiding. Let’s dissect whether they were successful in doing so or not.
One thing, that the whole world agrees upon about Windows 10, is its beautiful graphic designs. The UI is so ductile that it can be magnificently changed into something eye catching very very easily. Whether it is enabling the Dark Theme or making the Start menu wider or smaller, it’s all just very simple and easily doable.
Let’s delve into performance now. As much as some of the added features such as Cortana and Virtual Desktops have made the user experience much much better. I’ll personally rate the performance of Windows 10 as average to good, if not great. Average because some of the one click to access features have been shown the door and I frequently face buggy problems such as Windows not connecting WiFi and Windows Search stops working.
Another of the features that, although not permanently deleted, but put in the back seat is to show file extension in Windows 10. In the previous versions, Windows always used to display file extensions for our ease so that we could do relevant things with those files. In Windows 10’s case, not so much as shown in the image below but thankfully what you can do is enable them yourselves. To hide or show file extensions, follow the steps below the image.
First, open File Explorer.
Then, click on the ‘View’ tab in the menu bar.
From the resulting options depending on if you wish to hide or show file extensions, check or un-check the box that says ‘File name extensions’ and you’re done as shown in the image below.
After you’re done, this is how the file names will now line up.
Now, it is much easier to decipher which file is which due to the extensions being present. However, if you feel this is untidy, simply follow the steps again and un-check the box. We hope you liked it!
