GBA4iOS – a popular GameBoy and GameBoy Advance emulator – can be downloaded on iOS 9.3 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad if you know where to look. Follow our guide to learn how!
The GameBoy and GameBoy Advance is arguably the single best handheld gaming console of all time. It handily beats all of Sony’s offerings – the PSP and PS Vita – while just edging out the Nintendo DS and 3DS in terms of its amazing game library. As a result, the GBA is still amongst the most popularly emulated game consoles on PCs and smartphones alike.
This brings us to GameBoy Advance emulation on iOS. As a result of its strict policy, Apple doesn’t allow emulators on the App Store. There’s good reason for it: emulation is often associated with piracy which is illegal. Apple does its best to make it difficult for people to do illegal activities such as downloading torrents, or watching porn. Both can indeed legal, but it’s not a black or white thing. Apple stays on the safe side.
YET, we are glad to say there is a confirmed way to get GBA4iOS – a popular GameBoy and GameBoy Advance emulator – working on iOS 9.3 on your iPhone, iPod touch and iPad without ever jailbreaking it. You can get it much simpler if you jailbreak it of course, but we’ll show you how to download it using just Safari, and the famed “date trick”.

To source games, you will need to Google around a bit. There are many resources available. In any case, keep in mind that it is illegal to download ROMs. Though I have heard it is fine if you do so IF you own the original games for which you’re downloading the ROMs for.
We have independently tested and confirmed this to be working. GBA4iOS was tested on an iPhone 6S running iOS 9.3.3.
