I always wonder why do Penny Farthing when you can ride the tarmac with normal sized wheels too? Probably that’s what is deemed as being damn geeky and a bit of a side step from the league. Bringing the good old Penny Farthing era to the fore-front again Li Lianzhi (welder by profession) from Guilin, China’s southern Guangxi province, has created a bicycle with monstrous front wheel which makes it 2.7m long and 2m high. Putting almost 20 days and 7,000 Yuan (£690) this monster truck of the bicycle world is intimidating enough to make other automobiles on the road feel meager.
Since the height of this bicycle is more than a standard one it has integral steps to reach the saddle. The bicycle is made from steel material and painted in red, yellow and white to enhance the look further. To balance the whole thing the front wheel is filled with 100 kg of water making the total weight around 400 kg. Clearly at this weight one would not expect the bicycle to traverse through crested roadways but good enough to turn eyeballs on the streets.
