What’s an IP address? What is its significance to your PC? Read on to know all this and find IP address of your PC under Windows 10.
The Internet is like a bloodline for our computers. For me, my computer is useless without Internet. I experienced this first hand a few days ago when my WiFi password was not working for some reason and there was literally nothing for me to do. That is often the case with most people.
We are so dependent on the Internet nowadays for almost everything we do because of which, to cater our needs in a better way, Microsoft introduced Edge browser in Windows 10. The Internet is as loyal as ever, providing us with anything that we ask for. If you don’t know how to tie a knot? Simply Google it. If you don’t know which medicine to take for a sore throat? Hmm, difficult question! Oh yes! Google it. Such is the power of the Internet.
This is where IP addresses come into play. Basically, let me put it this way that you are a human being among 7.3 billion others. If you didn’t had a name, there would’ve been no way to differentiate you from the rest. Your name (sort of) is your IP address. Similarly, computer’s IP address is its name to other connectable devices. Your computer may need to communicate with other computers for sharing content or whatever, you’ll probably need your IP address to do that.
Not only this, IP addresses also play a massive part in collective gaming. Many a times, you need your IP address to connect with your fellow teammates. Even the websites you search for on the internet have IP addresses. So, to find IP address of your PC, follow the simple process below.
First, open the Settings app.
Then, click on Network and Internet: WiFi, airplane mode, VPN.
Now depending on the type of network you’re using or connected to, select it from the left side menu.
For WiFi, click on Advanced options under the name of your WiFi connection.
From the resulting Window, scroll down to find your IP address as shown in the image below.
That will be all.
