If you are tired of always having to go to your Start menu when you need to access your apps, find out how a simple trick can put all your icons from the Start menu into a convenient folder on your desktop!
Many Windows 10 users have a love / hate relationship when it comes to the apps in the Start menu in Windows 10. if you are among the people who actually enjoy the apps but would prefer having them on your desktop, you can use a simple shortcut to bring all your apps in one simple place!
Windows 10 has done a lot of the things right, bringing the best of Windows 7 and 8 together. However, if you are a fan of the former rather than the latter, and prefer accessing all your apps on the desktop then you will be glad to know you can do just so!
To begin. Simply make a shortcut on your desktop. You can do this by right-clicking on an empty space on your desktop. Going to New and Shortcut.
When you see the new box open up, enter the following:
Explorer Shell:AppsFolder
To proceed, press the Next button.
After this, you will have the option of naming your folder, this is completely up to you but we are going to stick with naming the folder name as it is and moving on.
When you have given the folder a name of your choosing, you can choose Finish and will now see a new addition to your desktop!
With the last step, all you have to do is open the folder and you will see executable files for all your programs previously seen in Start Menu > All Apps but now only inside a neat folder on your Windows 10 desktop!
This is a faster and more efficient way for you to see what are the apps that are currently on your system when its time for cleaning out the trash.
For a bonus, you can create desktop shortcuts to your favorite metro apps! All you have to do is right-click and choose “Create Shortcut”
Do be careful when cleaning out this folder, this is a folder comprising of essential system apps as well as your Windows Store apps, so be careful what you are running unless you’re certain its what you need!
