Pianobike kid’s 300 pound Piano Bike is pretty damn cool

Dezy Walls Piano Bike

We’ve seen some really crazy bicycles like the all wooden bike, the cyberbike and the M55 Terminus electric bike, but this Piano Bike is surely the coolest one we’ve in our time. Custom built from scratch with love for professional entertainer, 63-year-old Dezy Walls a.k.a “the Pianobike kid” by Tom Zucal (retired aeronautical engineer) and Jimmy Sindal (woodworker), the piano bike weighs 300 pounds (including built-in 50 pound battery used to power piano keyboard, amplifiers and speakers) and has a fixed drive-train.

We really couldn’t find how the brakes on the Piano Bike work, but we learn that the bike seat (courtesy high-tension spring is really comfortable) and the bike is easily steered by nudging the piano just above the keyboard. The Piano bike feature three wheels and has a fully-functional piano, which the Pianobike kid can be seen pedaling and playing in the streets of Carlton, Oregon.

Jonathan Maus of Bike Portland asked Wells how he ended up as Pianobike kid, Walls replied:
“I was playing a tourist bar in Ireland and the locals would come in late, with lots to drink, and sit on the piano, blocking me from all the people I’d been playing to all night. So, I would push the piano through them and the owner would say, ‘Have you license to drive that thing?!’ and I thought, well there’s an idea.”
