The celebrity chef Dimuthu Kumarasinghe at Heritance Ahungalle Hotel has crafted a US$ 35 Million sapphire studded cake that has filed its name for the world’s most expensive cake. Named “Pirates Fantasy,” the cake, which is available for sale on order, is made to resemble a pirate ship. Rich in taste, the cake is made of ten layers of different cake, each offering an exotic flavor.
Other exotic ingredients used are cinnamon, zucchini, purple yam, coconut chips, rosemary, almond cookies, white chocolate, coconut meringue, baked cheese, sweet wine berry, pineapple, walnut, pumpkin and lemon. Apart from this, the ship and its chest are decked with ten different sapphires, including a Padmaraja or King Sapphire which is very rare.
The blinged cake was unveiled at a special event organized at the hotel on the 26th of March in which renowned Sri Lankan and English cricketers showed their presence.
