Who needs a mouse or a touch pad when you can launch Edge from command prompt in Windows 10.
The command prompt is a .exe application which interacts with users via a console. The window that pops up when you type cmd in Windows Search/Run is called the Win32 console which provides an interface for human-computer interaction. It can be used to run or open almost any program in your computer provided that you know the exact paths of those applications.
Path refers to the exact location where a specific application is installed in your computer. Windows 7 allowed your titlebar to display the entire path of a program. In Windows 8/8.1/10, this feature is turned off by default but no need to be alarmed as you can enable it from the aforementioned link.
The command line has undergone some nice improvements which has made it more intelligent than before. Now, it is much easier to interact with as it has learned to interpret more characters and you can also change its color. The command prompt is particularly handy when, for some reason, your touch pad stops working or you don’t have a mouse at your disposal.
Its intelligence has reached newer heights as now you can launch Edge from command prompt as well. Microsoft Edge is Microsoft’s very own first all purpose web browser. Like the Virtual Desktops, this browser took a long time coming but finally, it has made its way here. To make the most out of it, find the steps to launch edge from command prompt after the jump.
Step 1: Press Windows + R.
Step 2: Type microsoft-edge: in the text field and press enter.
This command opens the Microsoft Edge with a blank page by default. If you wish to open a website directly through it, follow the steps below.
