CES 2013: Seagate Central shared storage lets you access files on Smart TV

Have you ever wanted to access files on the TV from your networked home storage system? Well, if yes, then don’t forget to take a look at the Seagate Central shared storage at the CES 2013. The next generation networked home storage system from Seagate comes with a Smart TV app to let you access files from the storage device on the TV screen. The Seagate Central connects with over Wi-Fi and allows you to back up all you content on one device, which you can access from inside and outside the house.

Seagate has designed the cool storage system for homes with more than one computer to act as a centralized backup for all systems including Mac and Windows PCs on the home network. Besides acting as an automatic and continuous backup for computers at home, the Seagate Central shared storage can also backup photos and videos directly from Facebook. The Seagate Central shared storage will be made available in March in 2TB, 3TB and 4TB capacities for $190, $220 and $260 respectively.

Other than performing its normal tasks, the Central storage wirelessly streams media on the device to media players, Smart TVs and gaming consoles. The Seagate storage device also provides apps for Samsung Smart TVs and Blu-ray players and free Apple and other smartphone and table app to access the stored data on the go.
