People frequently change their account and display pictures. If you feel like you don’t want others to see what previous account pictures you have uploaded since Windows syncs them across your devices, read on to learn how to delete account picture history in Windows 10.

Your account display picture is the picture associated with both your Microsoft and local user account. Display pictures, as the name suggests, help others to locate you easily during online search or in a list of contacts etc. There are various ways to update your account picture. You can either upload a photo or take one from your webcam if you have one.

If you login to Windows 10 via your Microsoft account, your display picture will automatically sync to all other PCs which use with the same account. Additionally, it will appear in emails and contact cards of your friends if they sync contacts that way. If you want to view your account picture history, simply head over to Settings App > Accounts > Your Account. The bigger circular picture will be your current profile picture while the rest would be the old ones.

I started using Facebook when I was in grade 8th. Being a child back then, I used to do many stupid things in a day which included taking woeful pictures of myself with my friends. Taking pictures meant uploading them on Facebook as profile pictures. Now, 8 years later, one day I wake up only to see that all of my newer friends are roasting me on Facebook on those 8 year old crazy photos. Damn! I wish I had deleted those earlier.

If you’re privacy-conscious or there is a slight bit of a chance that you might face similar fate to what I did through the profile pictures in your Microsoft account, trust me it will be a wise idea to delete account picture history and get rid of those old pictures.

Steps to delete account picture history in Windows 10:

Step 1: Open File Explorer.

Step 2: Enter the following path in the Address bar and press enter.

%AppData%MicrosoftWindowsAccountPictures

Step 3: In the resulting folder that appears, delete the pictures you wish to and let Windows do the rest as shown in the image below. My folder is appearing empty in the image as I have never uploaded a picture to my Microsoft account so don’t be alarmed.
