Only moments ago Windows 10 rolled out a cumulative update and a regular update, KB3139907 & KB3140743, respectively. Find out what’s new!

Update x2: Some users are reporting problems installing KB3140743. It may not be a bad idea to wait a few days until the next cumulative update.
This is the first time in a while that Microsoft has rolled out two updates in one go. They did this recently for the Insider Preview 14271, but never in my recent memory have they done for a standard update.
It was only a few weeks ago that we saw that release of cumulative update KB3135173 for Windows 10 version 1511 which updated the build number 10586.104. It has been reported that this cumulative update KB3139907 has updated the build number of the OS to 10586.122.
If you still don’t have the option of downloading the update, follow the links to each respective update to prompt the download and installation manually.

While a changelog for these updates is currently in the wind at the moment, it is safe to assume that these are your run of the mill security fixes and performance improvements, along with setting up the Windows Store for today’s release of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
According to the limited information provided on the website, here is what’s new in the following updates:
- Update KB3139907 offers stability improvements for Windows 10 Version 1511 and Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 4 servicing stack.
- Cumulative Update KB3140743 offers enhancements for the functionalities of Windows 10 Version 1511 and Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 4.
As we have mentioned before, if you missed the previous cumulative updates, you don’t need to install them in order to install this update. Cumulative updates will install without any required prerequisite.
While there is nothing relatively of importance in these updates we can only hold out hope for future updates to steadily integrate features of the highly anticipated Redstone update to approach us.
The only real change in the update is the update of the build number of your current Windows installation from 10586.104 to 10586.122, so it’s safe to say we are slowly but gradually reaching the release of Redstone, right?

Microsoft released the complete changelog just a few hours after releasing 10586.122 build. Here’s a summary:
- Improved system reliability in several apps and processes including Windows Update, bootup, shutdown, Start menu and more
- Improved system performance
- Better support for wearable devices like smartwatches, and fitness trackers
- Default apps for opening a particular format will reset now in case of registry corruption
- Loads of bugfixes
- Improved Cortana’s voice
So yes, our earlier assumption that this is just a bugfixes and performances improvements-focused build was indeed correct.
