Facebook Videos Are Nearly As Big As YouTube

Although Facebook is designed to be social network, video consumption on it is comparable to YouTube. Billions of people view millions of videos in billions every day. In recent times, Facebook has been actively improving its video software to make it competitive with other sites.

If my memory serves me correctly, Facebook initially allowed users to directly download videos but the option was later removed. As a result, we saw the release of so many apps and websites which would allow you to download Facebook videos.

We’ve come across a way, however, that allows you to save and download videos on Facebook directly i.e. without requiring any extra software at all. The option isn’t shown upfront, but it’s easy to locate.

You only need to open Facebook’s mobile website. Doing so allows you to download the movie or clip you’re looking for. For that, simply follow the steps below.

Downloading Facebook Videos Directly

Step 1: Open Chrome or any other browser of your choice.

Step 2: Open Facebook.

Step 3: Go to the video and open it.

Step 4: In its URL, simply replace the ‘www’ with ‘m’ to access the mobile version of it as shown in the image below.

Step 5: Open the new URL to access the mobile version of Facebook.

Step 6: Play the video.

Step 6: Once the video player loads, right click on it.

Step 7: From the context menu, select Save Video As and browse to the location where you would like it to be saved. Here’s how the download video option looks like on Safari:

That will be all. The only trick was to open Facebook in its mobile version which in turn gave us the option to download that video locally. There are tons of software out there that do this but why will you need them if you can simply download videos through this easy process? Think out of the box!
