Lets be honest about one thing. We all are very protective of our privacy even when it comes to our friends. To ensure that nobody meddles with your computer, you can enable guest account in Windows 10 through the following guide.
Creation of different accounts was first introduced in Windows XP. They were an ingenious invention as they came in really handy for users who had to share a common PC. Nobody could access anyone else’s private files nor change their settings. I used to share a computer with my siblings before joining university but back then user accounts made me feel like having my own personal desktop.
Another intuitive feature when it comes to user profiles are the ability to create guest accounts. Basically guest accounts are the accounts that the owner of a specific computer creates for events in which he/she may need to give their laptop to someone else for a short while for work or anything else e.g. surfing the web, gaming etc.
Guest accounts are available in Windows 10 and there are multiple ways to add them. The simplest of them all is via the command prompt. Just a simple command, enter and then voila! There’s your new guest account.
Steps to add a guest account in Windows 10:
Step 1: Open command prompt as an administrator. To do that, open the Start menu. Type cmd and then right click on it. From the context menu, select Run as administrator.
Step 2: Type or copy paste the following command in the command prompt as shown in the image below:
net user guest /active:yes
Step 3: Hit Enter and hopefully your work is done! This will create a new guest profile in Windows 10.
Through the addition of a guest profile, your privacy will be kept at maximum as the guest account only allows the user to access a limited set of basic features without making any sort of changes to your computer’s internal system. The guest cannot add a password to the guest profile nor access any administratively blocked programs as well.
We’d do like to bring this to your notice that this doesn’t always work. If it didn’t or did work out for you, be sure to let us know in the comments so that Windows Clan can figure another way out or give you a thumbs up if it did.
