It’s not uncommon for work and school WiFis to be severely limited in terms of the websites you can open, and for how long you can use them. Thankfully, you can easily bypass any Internet restrictions by using a VPN, such as Opera’s new free and unlimited one for iOS. We cover it in more detail after the bump.

There are number of ways to bypass WiFi restrictions at your work place, college or university, but we know for sure that using a VPN is a dead simple way to do it. It cannot be detected by your network administrator, take just a couple of taps to set up and turn on, and there are plenty of free VPNs that you can use without paying a single dime.
In the current era of digital security, the prevalence of malicious attackers, poorly secured websites, the risks of open WiFi networks are only a few of the many threats that modern day internet users face.
In light of all of this, the need of a VPN in the modern day has become a necessity rather than a luxury.
As we previously discussed in detail, Opera browser now comes equipped with a VPN right out of the box, saving you the trouble of trusting other popular open or free VPN’s such as Hola or Zenmate.
Opera decided that the new movement shouldn’t just stop at the desktop OS, and has carried it on to the iOS platform too.
If you are frequently using your iPad or iPhone to access sensitive data on the internet, then we highly recommend you download and install Opera VPN [iTunes Store Link].
To get yourself started with the VPN, you only need to download the app from the above link, install it and once you run it follow the on-screen instructions.
When you launch the app from your home screen you will find a easy to use user-interface guiding you towards selecting a region of your choice and from then on, your phone is good to go!
The app will also allow you to bypass geographic restrictions on apps, if you choose USA from the VPN, you will be able to access restricted apps like Pandora, Spotify, etc. on your iPhone.
Keep in mind that constantly running a VPN is NOT recommended as it will drain your battery at a significantly rapid pace, we only recommend turning on the VPN at certain occasions where you feel it is needed:
- Accessing websites restricted by WiFi at your school, or office
- When connected to an “open” non-password-protected WiFi connection
- When trying to bypass geographic restrictions of an app or a website such as Pandora, Netflix, Hulu and some YouTube music videos.
If you are currently using OperaVPN, let us know in the comments section below about your experiences with the app and whether you want to make it your only VPN on the phone.
