Ever since the introduction of networking, computer users have always found ways to connect systems over a Local Area Network (LAN) or even a Wide Area Network (WAN) to share files and collaborate.

Normally carrying these out would require extensive knowledge of networking protocols to transfer files amongst systems, but with the help of a free app on the Windows Store this process is now simplified to its basic roots!

With the help of Air Transfery [Windows Store], Windows 10 users need only to run the app on their PCs while connected to the same wireless network and you can immediately begin sharing from there.

You are readily able to transfer and share file amongst PCs that are in proximity to each other without any worries of having a networking expert present on the premises.

If you are also keen on getting in on the secret of seamless and effortless wireless data transferring, simply follow the guide below and you will be ready in mere minutes!

NOTE: The following guide has been carried out on Windows 10 10586.318 build.

STEP 1:

To get started, you will need to download Air Transfery from the previously mentioned link and install it on the system which you wish to transfer the content TO and on the system on which you wish to transfer content FROM.

Once you have done so, make sure that both the systems are on the same network, i.e. connected to the same SSID if you are on WiFi or are connected to the same Ethernet router if on a physical connection.

The app is available for free on the Windows Store and the in-app purchase will not interfere with your transfer in any way, so you needn’t do any extra purchasing.

STEP 2:

Once installed on both systems, you only have to run the program on both systems and wait for the Searching Device prompt to detect both the systems.

STEP 3:

When the systems are detected, you will see the following screen of “ready to receive files“. This means that both systems are now interlinked with one another and you can freely transfer content amongst yourselves as you please!

If you are wondering where your downloads are being sent or saved on the other PC, try to look on the desktop, otherwise, you can click on the hamburger menu on the bottom left of the app and look in the following default locations:

As you can see, the above file transfer process is relatively simple to carry out and requires little to no time. The added benefit of this technique is ideally for transferring small files amongst systems in the absence of a USB, although for larger transfers which might surpass a GB or so, we would highly recommend using a USB or similar device.

Keep in mind that the apps are currently available on anything running the Windows OS, meaning you can carry out this guide on your Windows Phones, tablets, Surface, or other devices that have a Windows OS running in them.

The above guide should also be able to work for your Windows 8/8.1 system which again would cover a wide variety of devices including smartphones, tablets, and other ranges of hardware running said OS, the only important element is getting access the Windows Store and downloading said app.

This app is really useful for transferring files in a matter of seconds over WiFi between 2 devices on the same network. Unfortunately due to the absence of it on the PlayStore / App Store, the app is currently exclusive to the Windows ecosystem.

If you are however looking for the above in the flavor of Android / iOS, there will be a guide in the future on how to transfer files between computers using Pushbullet.

Now that we have seen the app in action, do you believe that the app has a good future on the Windows Store and will you plan on using to transfer data between systems using the shared network between two devices?

Let us know your thoughts on the app in the comments section below.
