At WWDC, Apple announced many new uses for 3D Touch throughout iOS 10. One such useful feature is the ability to clear all notifications from the Notifications Center using a 3D Touch gesture. Learn more about it after the jump.
When Apple announced 3D Touch in iPhone 6S and 6S Plus late last year, people were initially quite impressed with it. However, as folks began to actually use it, it felt like a hugely underutilized hardware feature. I mean, sure, it’s nice to be able to preview items before opening them, and a couple apps here and there do have legit useful quick launch actions, but other than that there’s not much to love.
That’s changing with iOS 10. Apple’s latest mobile operating system puts 3D Touch front and center throughout the system. You can 3D Touch notifications from the lock screen to use core functions within apps without opening the app itself. You can access app widgets by 3D Touch-ing their icons. You can 3D Touch the bottom row of shortcuts in Control Center.
And in context of this post, you can 3D Touch the Clear ‘x’ button in Notification Center to clear all notifications at once. It’s a nifty little feature that makes notification management a breeze. Previously one would have to clear notifications for each app separately. You can easily save 5-10 seconds every time you need to clear the Notification Center.
Here’s what it looks like:

As of typing, this feature is available only in the iOS 10’s Developer Preview. It will be available for public beta testing in July. For the stable public release, you’ll need to wait till Fall 2016 when Apple will launch it alongside the iPhone 7.
We don’t expect Apple to change how this feature works, so you can rely on this fairly simple guide to clear all notifications in iPhone’s notification center in iOS 10.
