Windows OSes come with a variety of features installed in your system. This guide will teach you how to mange them better!
You do not need to turn off every single feature that comes with it as Windows allows you to disable features that you do not want and allows you to keep the ones you want.
STEP 1:
Press Windows Key + S and search for Control Panel
STEP 2:
Click on Programs.
STEP 3:
Click on Turn Windows Feature On and Off. If UAC is prompted, press Yes.
STEP 4:
You can now turn off windows features as you please! Select the features you want to turn off or on. Unchecking the feature means it is disabled. Checking it means it is enabled
You may be prompted to restart the computer after this is done. Restart it in order to make sure the task is completed. You would not normally require all these services depending on what you do with your computer. For example, if you do not print at all from your machine, printing services can be disabled.
Remember, in the event that you do need a certain feature, you can always turn it back on and toggling it to disable / enable will not affect your computer nor the Windows features.
It is advisable to turn off some features you do not use as it gives your computer less work to process and enhances the performance of it.
Remember not to turn off the Internet Explorer 11 option. Even though Microsoft Edge is a completely new and separate browser, many features in Windows use Internet Explorer 11 and disabling it may cause issues. But again, if you do encounter these issues you may turn it back on for a quick resolution to your problem.
Most desktop applications use the .NET framework to run. Turning it off may not have a huge impact on your applications as it is used for select applications.
If you do encounter a bug with applications, you can check if your .NET framework has been enabled or disabled. Usage of Windows features is entirely situational as some users find some features useful and satisfying and deem them necessary while some users do not need them at all.
