Monitor Turns Off By Itself In Windows 10? Here’s How To Fix It

Upgrading to Windows 10 was supposed to be a very simple process but a very large proportion of users have complained that their monitor turns off by itself during or after up gradation. This is how to fix it.

Is Windows 10 a disappointment or did Microsoft finally fulfill its true potential through it? The answer: A bit of both. For the people who say that Microsoft has finally developed something that has the ability to stand toe to toe with the bad boys in today’s OS market such as Mac OS X or Ubuntu Linux, base their arguments on new (like Virtual Desktops) and improved features as well as its outstanding UI.

For users who say that it was more of a disappointment (including myself) are of the opinion that it’s been a long enough time that Microsoft should had developed something that was bug free or at least presented something new to the world. Granted, running programs with Cortana is pretty cool and unique, but Virtual Desktops were present in OS X and Ubuntu since a long time.

The biggest reason that makes Windows 10 somewhat disappointing is that it is very buggy. A lot of the things stop working by themselves without any reason which can be a nightmare sometimes. Furthermore, things such as forgetting a WiFi network have become cumbersome longer processes that were previously just a click away. Another problem encountered by users is that the monitor turns off by itself during or after upgrading to Windows 10. This is how to fix it.

First, open Windows Search and type ‘regedit’.

After opening it, click on the arrow before ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE’, then ‘SYSTEM’, then ‘CurrentControlSet’, then ‘Control’, then ‘Power’, then ‘Power Settings’, then ‘238C9FA8-0AAD-41ED-83F4-97BE242C8F20’ and finally click on ‘7bc4a2f9-d8fc-4469-b07b-33eb785aaca0’.

Then, double click on Attributes and enter 2 in the text field under ‘Value Data’ and click on OK as shown in the image below.

In the plan you’re currently using, click on ‘Change plan settings’ and from the resulting window, click on ‘Change advanced power settings’.

From the resulting pop up, click on ‘Click on the Change settings that are currently unavailable’.

Then click on ‘Sleep’, then ‘Sleep after’ and finally increase the time to at least 15 minutes or more then click OK as shown in the image below. You can change times for both when your computer is plugged in or on battery.
