Fix Error 0x80070643 When Updating To Windows 10 1511

If you are facing Error 0x80070643 when trying to install the latest updates on Windows 10, here’s how you can fix it!

Quite a few people are experiencing the following error when trying to install the latest update of Windows 10 i.e. Version 1511 (KB3122947). The error – code 0x80070643 – is annoying since pressing Retry will ultimately lead you to the same conclusion page. To remedy this, simply follow the steps and be rid of the error!

STEP 1:

Run Command Prompt as administrator, you can do this by Pressing Windows Key + S and searching for “cmd” or “command prompt“. When you have found command prompt, right click on it, and choose Run As Administrator.

STEP 2:

Next, once you have command prompt open, copy and paste the following line into the console: (the below line is for x64 based systems)

dism /online /add-package /packagepath:C:WindowsSoftwareDistributionDownloadc4a1b8896ce9fbfea96c1ee6890d52a5windows10.0-kb3122947-x64.cab

If you have an x86 based system, copy and paste the following line:

dism /online /add-package /packagepath:C:WindowsSoftwareDistributionDownloadb0a5da1b24245bc4237166e09bae92dawindows10.0-kb3122947-x86.cab

The text will either automatically do the job for you, otherwise you will have to press Enter after copying the text.

It should be noted that this fix might not work with every other build or installation of Windows 10, unless you are getting the same error number, you are unlikely to replicate the command prompt line.

Error 0x80070643 appears to be on Windows end of being unable to properly install the update, this command line gives Windows 10 the push it needs to forcefully install the update on your system.

Currently, this is an uncommon error, and should the update continue to fail installing on you, the only solution that can be tried would be to clear up some space in your C: and trying the command prompt line fix again to ensure you have adequate storage to facilitate the update.
