The Taskbar is a fundamental feature of Windows. During the time of its development, the taskbar was one of the first things Windows developers sought to develop. Why? Because the taskbar would carry many things at once which users could access from anywhere in Windows. From Windows 1.0 to Windows 10, the taskbar has seen tremendous improvements. At one time, the taskbar did stagnate but who could blame developers as it was already doing everything it could.
Then came Windows 8/8.1 and then 10. The taskbar found a new design and functionalities such as change its color, change size of its icons etc. Apart from these, Windows 10 also brought with it two new buttons to the taskbar namely Windows Search and the task view buttons. The task view button allows users to access Virtual Desktops whereas the Windows Search… nah, you guys already know what both of these do.
Moving on, another thing embedded into the taskbar is the system tray. The system tray is the group of icons appearing in the right corner of your taskbar. It usually contains one of the most frequently used Windows functionalities such as volume slider, battery indicator, touchpad etc.
Some of the icons present in the system tray may not be of use to you at all. You might wanna put something in there that you tend to use more frequently so that it is easily accessible to you. If you wanna do that, follow the steps below and customize system tray icons in the blink of an eye.
Step 1: Open Settings.
Step 2: Click on System: Display, notifications, apps, power.
Step 3: From the left side menu, click on Notifications and Actions.
Step 4: From the resulting window, click on Select which icons appear on the taskbar as shown in the image below.
Step 5: From the resulting window, turn on or off the apps you wish should appear or not appear in the system tray as shown below.
Exit settings and the obedient Windows 10 will grant you your desired changes just like a genie out of a lamp.
