A little note on my favorite sport!
“Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you, it is something much much more important than that!” are the words of Liverpool football club’s legendary manager Bill Shankly. This quote very much sums up what football means to each and every hardcore football fan in the world.
The most popular sport in the world by miles, football is most definitely the number one and most followed sport in the world. With an estimated following of 3.5 billion people, that is one in every two people in the world, it is the most widespread sport in the world. Whether they are the jungles of Africa or the large open plains of Argentina, football has conquered them all.
The language of football, like music, is synonymous to all. The FIFA World Cup held after every 4 years is the biggest sporting event when it comes to revenue, worldwide media coverage, tourism etc. when compared to other large sporting events such as the ICC Cricket World Cup, Super Bowl or the NBA Finals.
Only a football fan can understand the feeling this beautiful game generates in an individual. I myself am a huge football fan with over 7 years of football following behind me and I’m extremely pleased to bring the 2+1 best free football news and live score apps for Windows 10. You’ll know why I’ve said 2+1 instead of just 3 in a moment.

Keeping track of one’s favorite football team, keeping an eagle eye on how adversaries are doing and staying in touch with the latest news regarding whatever is going in the world of football is an every day activity. So without further due, here are the 2+1 best free football news and live score apps for Windows 10.
#1 Onefootball: The best free football news and live score app for Windows 10
Looking for the latest football news, live scores, updates and happenings in the world of football? Your pit stop has arrived. Onefootball is the best out there when it comes to football news and live score apps. Why? Because it has everything that a proper football news app should have. It is a must have app if you’re interested into what happens in the world of football daily as Onefootball will stay up to date and provide you with the latest scores and news without you having to do anything. Let’s delve into the app.
Onefootball follows the similar pattern of other Windows Store apps with a nice looking UI. However, a good looking UI molded with simplicity is what makes this app even more pleasurable to use as shown in the image below.
Features
Upon opening it for the first time, Onefootball prompts the user to select his favorite team. Once done, it specially keeps track of all the latest happenings with your favorite football team. The left side of the app features a vertical bar which features icons such as the News, Games etc. On clicking the News icon, the app displays all the latest news be it transfer news, financial news, player news, team news etc. in a neat and tidy manner as shown in the image above.
The Games icon displays all the live scores of the games going on and the games that will be taking place in the future. It keeps a track of a long list of games and users can easily get to know the local timings of the games they wish to see. The vertical bar on the left also contains icons that reflect all the competitions in which your favorite football team currently plays in or has previously played in. Through the profile icon, you can change your favorite football team etc.
That’s all about Onefootball. The app has everything and it gives special attention to your favorite football team. Furthermore, it also sends you notifications about the latest happenings with your favorite team as well. Liked it? Here’s the link to get it.

#2 ESPN FC: A distant second football app
ESPN FC stands second in our 2+1 best free football news and live score apps for Windows 10. The app, like Onefootball, is an all purpose football app with an adequate number of features that are sure to please any user. Synced to the popular ESPN network of channels, it provides the most credible and up to date news that will keep your latest football knowledge on its toes. Let’s dive into the app.
Examining the UI: the app shows signs of being a Windows app but there might just be too much grey color for my liking. The rest is acceptible as shown in the image below.
Features
Like Onefootball, you can add your favorite team. The app will not prompt you to do that but you can add your team by clicking on the Add team button. By default, the app displays information about the UEFA Champions League but you can change that to the league of your choice. Whichever league you will select, the app will start displaying live and old scores of the games corresponding to that league. This one-league-at-a-time limitation annoyed me.
Unlike Onefootball, ESPN FC does not show any menu bar. Instead you can simply scroll to the right or left to find the latest news, analysis and statistics from ESPN etc. Not only does ESPN FC contain news, analysis etc. but it also contains nice football related videos as well. If you wish to read more news, you can simply expand the news category to get more extensive articles. You can also do this for videos as well.
That will be all about ESPN FC. A simple and informative app packed with most of the regularly used features you’d need as a football fan. Found it useful? Find the download link below and enjoy!

#3 The Score: an excellent football news and live scores website
The Score is the “+1” part of our 2+1 best free football news and live score apps for Windows 10. It’s one of the most renowned sports news and live score websites in the world with a very healthy following. The reason is that it covers an extremely wide array of sports which also include the UFC and NCAA football among many, many others. The reason we decided to include a website was primarily down to Windows Store not being helpful enough in providing us with adequate apps.
If you’re living somewhere in the United States, you’d be extremely pleased to know that The Score absolutely loves most of the sports played extensively in your country such as NBA, NFL, the UFC etc. Time to dissect the website.
The website has a beautiful, dark interface with each news article boldly plastered on it as shown in the image below.
Features
The website only has one button in which most users would be interested in, in the top left corner, from where you can select the sport you’re interested in and view news articles about it. The website has proven credibility with tons of articles written every day to make sure you always have something to read. If you don’t feel like reading, The Score has multiple videos as well for you to enjoy.
The Score also has a dedicated app but unfortunately it is yet to hit the Windows Store. It is available on Apple’s App Store and Google Play. To see live scores, team sheets, and play by play coverage on The Score, select th
e league of your choice and then click on fixtures in the top left corner as you can see in the image above. Updated second by second, they’re sure to keep you updated in a lightning quick manner.
So that was all about The Score. A credible website packed with articles, videos etc. that are sure to keep you busy. Interested? Simply click the link below to head over to their website.
The Score [Official website]
The three features in this post provided stern competition to one another primarily because there wasn’t much exclusivity between all three of them. It was the little details which nudged us in the direction of Onefootball as our most recommended app but all in all, all three are very good. That is all for our coverage of the 2+1 best free football news and live score apps for Windows 10. If you find better apps than the ones covered above, do let us know in the comments section as I personally will be very eager to hear about them!
